Second Debt by Pepper Winters (#3 Indebted Series)

WOOT WOOT! Its Friday and you ain't got no job... and you ain't got shit to do. (dang Smokey had the right idea). OH wait maybe I do have a job, and responsibilities, Ugh life gets in the way of my reading. But that's OK, you know why? Three day BABY!!! What do I have planned you ask? I'm gonna go Thrift Shoppin (and I totally made that cool before Macklemore sang about it) and its Super Bowl weekend. I am a firm believer they should close schools, business, and every other establishment down the day after the Super Bowl and proclaim it as a national holiday, we can call it Hungover Day. Speaking of the Super Bowl, who are you all rooting for? I personally don't care as my team didn't even make it to the Playoffs this year. The Super Bowl just gives me an excuse to eat, drink and be as loud as I want yelling at the TV. My money is on New England (even though I can't stand them, they are the lesser of two evils), with the hopes that they crush Seattle into the ground, and Richard Sherman breaks his spleen (Yeah I'm that childish, and I am AOK with it). SEAHAWKS STINKS!!!

OK, OK enough about football. Now on to my review.

The Indebted books follow Nila and Jethro who were both thrown into the world of abuser and victim. I'm not going to give to much away as this is the 3rd book in the series, and it is also the half way point. Only 3 more to go.

Any who, like the last book that I had reviewed, this book is another master piece of suspense, romance, and even a tiny bit of HOT STEAMY SEX (OK I lied, it has awesome sex scenes). I have to quote from another book that makes me think about Jethro in unappropriated ways. "Gideon Cross was a fucking animal. He said cunt! It was the first book where the word cunt was used and I swear that alone caused me to go out that night and find the nearest dark haired, well built, finely dressed man I could just to finish the job Sylvia had started". Marley Grinding in Greenville. While Marley has Gideon, I will take my Jethro Hawk any day of the week, and weekend, and after hours, holidays...Ah hell, Ill take him 24/7.
Alright back to the book, I don't know how Pepper Winters writes these stories, they are all so dark and twisted, but SO addicting. She has taken a man from a kidnapping, egomaniac, psychopath (Nila's words not mine) and turned him into so much more. He isn't just a robot that his father created. He has a softer side, and is slowly letting people in to his heart (sigh...isn't he just the sweetest thing). So would I recommend this book? ABSOLUTELY!!! If I had physical copies of any of her books, I would be lending them out. They are that good, definitely give them a try.

Now its story time, and I hope the person I did this to doesn't read my review today. At work a co-worker (we'll name her Lee for this story) asked if she could borrow a book to go on her vacation. She didn't want to by a book and she knows I'm big into reading. So I said "Sure, what do you like to read? I have tons of books in different genres." Lee's response was "I'm not picky, I'll read anything." Ding Ding, the boxing gloves have come off. At this point I have to give you just a short condensed  side note, that Lee is in her 60's and is ALWAYS I mean ALWAYS giving me a hard time, and vice versa. So I said, I'll get you Fifty Shades of Gray. She didn't even bat an eye and asked is it good (at this point I'm dying, because I don't quite thing she knows what the book is about). So my Fifty Shades is going on a trip half way across the world, and I am going to miss the look on Lee's face when she get to the good parts. I also just want to be a fly on the wall and see random peoples expressions as they walk by her and see her reading this novel. The whole thing just gives me giggles. So stay tuned, once Lee is back from vacation, I'm sure there will be some retaliation. But man it will be worth it.

So until next time my fellow bookworms keep on keeping on, and I bid you adieu.

Penned Con St. Louis 2015

I promise this is my last post for the night. On July 24th, your truly and my partner in crime (insert bestest best friend Sara), are going to travel down to St. Louis and go to Penned Con 2015. I am super excited for the chance to meet Pepper Winters, Alice Clayton, Barbara Speak, and Kimberly Knight. I haven't come across one of their books that I haven't liked. They are all awesome authors, and I am looking forward to meeting them all.

I am hoping to try a new book by some of these authors soon.

Destroyed by Pepper Winters

WOW!!! I cannot get enough of Pepper Winters. If you are into dark...DARK romance stories, then Pepper Winters is for you. I have read two other books by her, and I am addicted to her. I mean her books are my crack.

Destroyed follows Hazel and Roan (Fox). Fox is a broken man who has lived the life of torture, abuse and brainwashing. He is a Ghost, a lethal weapon, and a cold blooded killer. That is until he meets Hazel. Both Hazel and Fox are drawn to each other. They both have secrets, and neither want to share them with the other. She wants to fix him, and he believes she will be his salvation. But will it be enough? Can they save each other?

This story will bring you to tears. This story is so dark and twisted that it will make you question humanity. It will have you asking, Does this really happen? The answer (I'm sure) is yes. Pepper Winters books will have you asking more than that. She knows how to rip out someones soul in her books. I have had a semi difficult life, but nothing compared to Hazel and Roan. You will laugh and cry with them in their journey.

Again, Pepper Winter has not let me down. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a great read before I started her 3rd book in the Indebted series. Read any of her books. I'm sure you will enjoy them as much as I have.

Dominic: The Prince by M.J. Fields (Ties of Steel #2)

Holy mother of all living creatures. I now have a new book boyfriend, and his name is Dominic Segretti. He is the man any red blooded female would love to have. Hes compassionate, caring and dead sexy. Men want to be him and women want to have him (yes including this woman).

Dominic is the blood cousin of the Steel Brothers. He was destined to run the family business until he grandmother remarried. The Segretti business was renamed after the new husband DeLuca Inc. To make matters DeLuca's son Benito is now in charge, and his is running the company to the ground. With the help of Jules DeLuca (Benito's wife), and the Steel Brothers, Dominic is prepared to take Benito and is Mafia related friends down.

What Dom didn't expect was for a beautiful girl named Delaney or Laney for short to crash into his world.

Lies, deceit, and betrayal all go hand in hand in this book. This in my honest opinion is the best book by M.J. Fields hands down. I really loved the characters that she has created. Although I must admit I wasn't looking forward to this book, as I through she should follow Kat and Rico's story lines. I am still holding hope that she still will.

I have to say that I am really looking forward to the next book in the series. Sabato: The Cross. I'm sure it will be just as good at the last two.

If you like long series's, give the Men of Steel and the Ties of Steel a try. I have enjoyed them immensely.

Now, just a small mention that I have read two other books. Both are by Colleen Masters, Stepbrother Billionaire, and Stepbrother Untouchable. Both were fairly decent books, not really worthy of a full blown review, but if you need a time filler in between books, then these will entertain you.

I promise not to take so long in between reviews next time. I can ASSURE you, the next few books are going to be worth reviewing. So until then, Happy Reading ;)

Song Chaser/Straight, No Chaser (Chaser #2 and Short Story) By Kandi Steiner

I know, I know, I just wrote a review yesterday, but I just couldn't put this series down. I also decided to combine these two books as the second one is only 25 pages (Yes it still counts towards my goal for this year).

Song Chaser is the second book in the Chaser series. It follows Tanner West. If you have read Tag Chaser, then you will know that Tanner is in love with his best friend Paisley. However, Paisley is in love with Corbin. This book details how Tanner finds the girl of his dreams, and how he struggles to stop loving Paisley. I know, another vague summary, but I cant go into too many details as again, it will ruin the first book.

Straight, No Chaser is a very short story following Tanner and Corbin on a weekend getaway (yes that is all you get).

I enjoyed Song Chaser quite a bit, and if I had to choose between Tanner or Corbin, I would have to go with Tanner. A hunky Doctor... YES PLEASE! I know, Corbin is a military man, and believe me I love a man in uniform, but their was something about how Tanner was with his patients that just had me more attracted to him then Corbin.

Any who, enough about who's hunkier...Tanner.  Both of these books were well written, and again the story flows very nicely. I feel that the author really captured how Tanner and his love interest were struggling with their thoughts and feelings. I again could connect with Tanners love interest. Having something bad happen in your life does make it difficult to love and trust someone with your heart. The same with Tanner, it is very difficult to stand up and brush yourself off when you have been beat down.

I look forward to reading more books by Kandi Steiner, and if you are in need of a new author, I highly recommend reading her. I won't be surprised to see in time that she will be on a best seller list.

So book junkies, give this series a try. It is worth is. As for me I have started reading Dominic: The Prince. It is the second book in the Ties to Steel series. This series is a spin off from the Men of Steel Series by M.J Fields, and so far it's just as good as the original series, if not better.

Tag Chaser (Chasers #1) by Kandi Steiner

LOVE LOVE LOVED this book! It is the 1st book in the Chaser series by Kandi Steiner, and oh my how I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The book follows Paisley Bronson on her journey of no strings attached love. She was deeply hurt by the one man in her life who shouldn't have hurt her (no I'm not going to tell you who). Paisley is what a lot of military personnel call a "Tag Chaser". Paisley only likes to have relationships (or lack there of) with Military Men.

One night she goes out in downtown Orlando with her best friend McKenzie, who despises Paisleys lack of real relationships and sparks a bet with Paisley stating she can't go a year without "Tag Chasing". Paisley accepts the bet and if Paisley wins she gets Kenz's bad ass glittery Jimmy Choos, and if Kenz wins she get to know the real reason why Paisley is a "Tag Chaser". and they continue on with their girls night.

While out Paisley and Kenz run into a less than desirable man. He refuses to believe that Paisley doesn't want to dance with him. Now enter Corbin Ray (aka Dreamboat). Corbin comes to the rescue and is "more of a dark knight than a knight in shining armor." Paisley decides to go back to Corbin's hotel, while she is there, he takes a phone call and Paisley wonders around his suite. She notices his luggage and fingers through it. What does she find you ask? That's right ACU's. So Paisley being Paisley, leaves the hotel stating her boss just called with an emergency at work. Plus she doesn't want Kenz to win the bet.

The next day Paisley goes to work slightly hungover to meet a new client. Loll and behold, who do you think is her new client? That's right Corbin Ray.

I really want to keep writing a summary about this book, as I said, I thoroughly enjoyed it. But again, I have to leave you hanging. But I will tell you this, you do find out why Paisley only dates military men, why she has the best guy friend ever, and how she finally sticks up to her craptastic boss.

Kandi Steiner did not disappoint me. I felt an emotional connection with Paisley (no I never was a "Tag Chaser", but I sure did marry one hell of a good looking Army Man). I understood what Paisley did to keep her defenses up. Its always a good thing to guard your heart.

I only had one problem with this book, and that was how do you become a Tag Chaser in Orlando, FL? As a military wife, I would have found this story more believable if it had taken place near a military instillation. This was the only thing that didn't make much sense to me. Other than than one thing, I felt the author did a great job of writing the book, it was easy to follow, and I didn't have to do a lot of back page flipping (it seems like that I have to do that with newer authors). I look forward to Song Chaser as it is next in the series and I can't wait to see what is in store for Tanner.

Last Call (Cocktail #4.5) By Alice Clayton

Funny story... I thought I had more to read on this book. Guess I was wrong as I just finished it two minutes ago. I am going to make this review short, as you NEED to read Wallbanger and Rusty Nailed first.

This book does not disappoint. Caroline and Simon are hilarious as always, and unlike the last book I reviewed, it had bust a gut moments. Yes I was the crazy lady laughing at my phone in the middle of a busy office.

I am not going to give a summary of this book as that would give a lot away.

This book is a short read and Alice Clayton's writing is awesome as always. One thing that I didn't like, is that Clive wasn't in the book near as much as the others. He is a crazy cat and I would have liked to read more about him, and I always love his point of view about the Feeder and the Tall One.

So go get Wallbanger and start the journey of Caroline and Simon. You won't be disappointed!

Mai Tai'd Up (The Cocktail Series #4) By Alice Clayton

Greetings book junkies, It's time for another review. It has been a few days since I finished this book, but of course life got busy and I haven't been able to make time for a review. So lets get started.

Mai Tai'd Up is the 4th book in the Cocktail Series, and quite honestly not as good at the previous three books.

The story follows Chloe Patterson who's mother controls her life. Chloe is a former beauty queen and about to marry Charles Preston Sappington, the perfect man in her mothers eyes. The morning of the perfect wedding that her mother planned, Chloe realizes that she can not marry Charles as she does not love him and she is pretty certain he does not love her either. Chloe has a minor panic attack and flees to her fathers house (her parents are divorced). She stays there for a day, goes back to her mothers home, where her very upset mother wait. Chloe's mom kicks her out of the house, so Chloe takes her belongings and heads back to her Dad's. From there she heads to Monterey, to the family vacation home, to get some much needed time away from San Diego.

Chloe drives up to Monterey and once she gets there she stops at a local restaurant where she sees a man who is incredible attractive, but since she just ran out on her wedding, she doesn't approach him.

With Chloe going to Monterey, she is going to be helping kick start a satellite office of "Our Gang", a shelter that rescues Pit Bulls who are abused and abandoned. Her mentor Lou tells her to visit the local veterinary clinic, as they have worked with Lou before, and they are always happy to help. Chloe goes to the clinic where she meet an eclectic receptionist, who puts her in an exam room to meet Dr. Campbell. Chloe gets a surprise as the doctor who comes in is also the hottie from the restaurant.

And here is where my summary stops... I know another cliff hanger :P

I have read several books by Alice Clayton, and I can honestly say this book was by far my biggest disappointment. The first three books in the series are amazing. They are books that you read, and at the funny parts you are that weirdo who is laughing at nothing in a room filled with people. I'm talking bust a gut laughing. This book... not so much.

However, I of course loved the story, and as always the writing of Ms. Clayton is superb. The story flows nicely, and of course the story could be extended in to another book or novella. If a second book were to come out, I would read it as well. I have to know if Chloe and Dr. Hottie ever get their Happily Ever After (I'm certain they will).

So would I recommend this book, of course. I would read the first three books before this book, as some of the characters from the other books appear in this one.

Mai Tai'd Up was my 18th book this year, and I am currently working on Last Call (The Cocktail Series #5). Be on the look out for that review to come in the next day or two. It would be sooner, but its football day, and I have to support my hubby's team in the playoff's. LETS GO PACKERS!

Until next time gang! Happy reading!

Filthy Beautiful Forever (Filthy Beautiful Lies #4) By Kendall Ryan

Filthy Beautiful Forever is the 4th book in the Filthy Beautiful Lies series (Yes, I know I should start my reviews with the first in the series, but I don't wanna and you cant make me).

The book follows Collins Drake and Mia Monroe. They were best friends from age 5 til 15 when Mia's family has to move away. During that time, the two formed an unique bond. At the age of 10, Mia started planning her wedding and Collins had found her wedding magazine she had hidden. They talk, they giggle about it, but Collins pokes Mia in the arm and says that he will marry her if they are both single at the age of 30. Fast forward a few years, and its the night before Mia leaves Collins, they are both 15 and they want each other to be their firsts. Collins takes Mia to his fathers yacht, where Mia enjoys herself immensely, as where Collins has a lot of guilt for taking Mia's virginity.

Another 15 years pass and Collins owns his own Investment firm and is quite successful he also has a beautiful supermodel girlfriend keeping his bed warm. Life couldn't get much better, until there is a knock on his door. Mia Monroe has had a tough go lately, she has lost her job and is looking for something new. One drunken night her best friend tells her to go to California and claim her marriage proposal. Collins is shocked to find Mia at his door, and she is more shocked to see his life is doing great...

Now this is where I am going to stop the summary of the book, because if I keep going then you won't have a reason to read the book. And well, if I'm reviewing it, then it must be a pretty dang good book.

So here goes my attempt to review my very first book that I thoroughly enjoyed, wish me luck.

Kendall Ryan does not disappoint again. Her writing is flawless, the story flows nicely, and the love between Collins and Mia is quite believable. I even understand about the marriage proposal, my best friend and I also said that if we weren't married by the age of 30 then we too would get married. Boy was he mad when I married my High School Sweetheart.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading the first three books in the series. You get little glimpses of Collins and his inner workings in the other books.

I love how the author portrayed Collins. He has let get life the best of him, and he has no clue how to relax, have a good time, and he doesn't just go with the flow. (This sounds quite familiar to me, as I am the female version of Collins).

Mia on the other hand is a carefree, good time having, hopeless romantic. The complete opposite from Collins. Again I understand this concept as this describes me and my husband, well except the hopeless romantic part, neither of us are like that.

The one thing that I absolutely love about this book, is that typically it is always the woman who has problems making up their minds. Not in the book! Collins emotions are all over the place, as where Mia doubts herself, but not near as much as Collins. It was awesome to read for once that it was the alpha-male who had a conscience and not the woman.

So do I recommend this book???? ABSOLUTELY!!! Buy it today! The concept is great, the writing is great, and if, IF it is the last in the series, it closes it out very nicely (I'm secretly hoping that there will be one more, I mean come on, you cant leave us hanging with Pace and Kylie's story). Give it a try, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Now onto waiting for Ms. Ryan to publish another book. I have read all of her other ones, so now it is just a waiting game to see what she has in store for us next. You can believe I will review it as she has never disappointed me.

Well, back to reading. I have my next victim picked out, and I know this author will not disappoint either. So until I finish this next book, give Filthy Beautiful Forever a shot.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Stacy, and I have a reading addiction. You will see that I might take my reading quite serious.

My husband who is the smartest person I know gave me the idea to start writing reviews of books that are worthy of my time and effort to review. Yes I am inexperienced as a blogger, but hey who cares, its something new. So please bare with me while I find my foothold.

My hobbies include reading, reading, reading, my family and Gotham (Yes, I am one of those closet nerdy people who's life revolve around comic book characters. I wish I was making this up).

I am a member of two Street Teams. Pure Bliss, and BFBS Street Team. Both of these groups are amazing, and I love following new and upcoming authors. I find most of my obscure authors from BookBub.com

I also have a book hoarding problem. If it is free, I am buying it. I really hope my amazon cloud doesn't have a limit. :)

So enough about my addictions, and more about me.

I am 32 years old, and happily married to my high school sweetheart. We have been together for 16 yrs, but only 11 1/2 years have we been partners in crime. We have two wonderful children, our son is 9 and our daughter is 5. My son is a mommas boy through and through, and my daughter could care less about me, she is a Daddy's girl. We have two chocolate labs (kind of a his and hers thing) Colossus and Rogue (insert comic book character addiction). The kids have two cats as well (they take after their momma and prefer cats over dogs), Torch (after Human Torch) and Storm (yes the kids chose those names on their own).

That pretty much concludes my immediate family life. When I am not home with them, I am at my 9 to 5 job (OK, maybe its more like an 8 to 4:30 type of thing). I am a Sales and Service Representative II (a glorified term for Customer Service Rep) for a local bank.

So what do I do on my off time you ask? I read. How much you ask? Lets just say that since January 1 til today January 12th, I have read 16 books (addiction is a loose term. Its more like and obsession). Tonight however, I am going through withdrawals. I just bought Kendall Ryan's new book, Filthy Beautiful Forever. I know its the 4th book in the series, but once I finish it, I will be using my blog to review it. If it is like the first three books in the series, then I know I won't be let down. (Kendall Ryan is one of my favorite romance/erotic writers. I have quite literally read all of her books).

So please sit back, like my reviews or don't, but please follow them as I start my journey of reviewing books. I hope ya'll enjoy
them, and I am looking forward to this journey.
