Viking (A Real Man) by Jenika Snow

She’ll be his greatest conquest.

INGRID

I should have been afraid of him, the brutal man with the violence covering him and blood on his face. But he’d saved me from a fate worse than death. He was a Viking, a man who took what he wanted because he could, because no one dared to cross him, to go against him.

And he claimed me.

I was his now, and I didn’t want to fight that.

GUNNAR

From the moment I saw Ingrid I knew I wanted her as mine, as my wife, the future mother of my children. I’ll go to any lengths to keep her by my side, to make her see I’m not letting her go. I may give her the option to leave, to find her own way, but the truth is I would follow her to the ends of the earth to keep her close.

I’m a Viking, a savage, dangerous and violent. I don’t give up when I see something I want. I’ve been searching for Ingrid my whole life; I just didn’t realize it until I looked into her blue eyes.

She will be mine. No matter what.

Warning: Hope you like your men filthy, brutal, and willing to slay for the woman he’s claimed, because in this story you’re getting it all and then some. It’s dirty, totally unbelievable, and probably holds no real historical facts, but it’s fun and hot and hits the right spot. It is what it is, so hang on and enjoy the ride.

The sound of a battle cry wrenched through the air. The men around me took a fighting stance. I searched the village, seeing nothing but flames and smoke. The shadows crept around where the flames didn’t lick.

A grunt.

A cry of pain.

The scent of blood in the air.

The feeling of my enemies life force covering me.

It all hit me suddenly, and I fell forward, bracing my hands in the dirt, my breathing labored. I could hear fighting all around me, and I expected any second that final blow that would end my life.

But it never came. And when the silence stretched on, I lifted my head and looked around. The Vikings who’d destroyed my village were around me, their bodies bloody and broken. My heart thundered, and my throat was dry. I couldn’t breathe. It wasn’t just the thick smoke that surrounded me like a cloak, but my fear of what was out there. Of who had killed my enemy.

And then I heard heavy footsteps coming closer, but the fire raged on, making it impossible to see anything. I tried to stand, but my legs didn’t want to work. I heard my heart thundering in my ears, felt the pulse at the base of my neck.

The man who came into view was not a savior, a hero that had saved the day. He might have killed the men who’d hurt me, but he was still a Viking. His short dark hair, the leather, fur, and blood from his enemies that he wore making it known he’d seen violence…he’d delivered it himself. But although he was the same as the ones who’d terrorized my village, he’d also killed them, stopped them before they could take from me what wasn’t freely offered.

And then I saw several more men step up behind him. It was clear they were with him, part of his clan, as their shields showed the same coloring, the same crest. Their focus was intense, their attention trained right on me. They conversed with each other in a dialect I wasn’t familiar with. When the Viking in front of me started speaking, this time to me, I could only shake my head. I didn’t know if they meant me harm, or if they were worse than the ones they’d killed.

“Please, I don’t understand. I don’t know what’s happening.” I lifted my dirt and blood covered hands, knowing they were shaking. These Vikings probably didn’t understand me either.

“You’re afraid of us.” The one I’d seen first spoke to me, his words clear and his accent thick. He knew my language.

“Yes,” I whispered. There wasn’t any point in lying. He could see how clear my fear was. It was written along my body, in telltale signs.

“You have nothing to fear from us.” He held his hand out to me, and although maybe I still should have been afraid, should have tried to outrun them, to escape, the truth was I did feel safe. I didn’t know if they were telling me the truth, but they’d killed the men who had destroyed my home, who had been about to do unspeakable things to me. They could have harmed me ten times over by now, but they didn’t, they hadn’t.

So I lifted my shaking hand and slipped it into his bigger one, his palm covered in blood, his strength clear.

He helped me to stand, and I had to crane my neck back to stare into his face. He was huge, his body wide, muscular. I could see his eyes, a bright blue that didn’t look soft. I could see the violence and danger reflected in them, staring right into my very being. I was aware of the destruction around us, of the bodies littering our feet. I could even feel the other two men watching us.

I knew I should say something, anything, but I was lost in this hazy feeling of confusion, slight fear and…warmth.

And then he leaned down slightly so we were eye to eye. He lifted his hand, cupped my cheek, and said in a voice so deep, so masculine I couldn’t help but shiver, “You’re mine, female.”

I didn’t know what my fate was, but at this point I had nothing else to lose.

Bet Me by Lila Monroe review

Bet Me Bet Me by Lila Monroe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a fun quick read that had me cracking up. This was the best romantic comedy I have read in a while.

Jake and Lizzy were quite the comical pair. From their first encounter the chemistry between them was through the roof.

Lila Monroe out did herself with this book, and it was nice to get a peak of Nate and Julia from Get Lucky. I'm chomping at the bit to see who will be in her next book.

Blurb

What happens when your sex strike goes viral -- and suddenly every man in town has their eye on your prize?

All I wanted was little old-fashioned romance. After a parade of Tinder disasters who think chivalry is giving me a pearl necklace on the first date, I made a pledge: until guys step up their game, this girl is off the market.

But one bottle of chardonnay later, and my drunken rant has gone viral. I’m the most famous person NOT having sex since the Jonas Brothers put on their purity rings. A men’s magazine has even put a bounty on my (ahem) maidenhead: fifty Gs to whoever makes me break the drought.

Be careful what you wish for...

Now my office looks like an explosion in a Hallmark factory, I’ve got guys lining up to sweep me off my feet - and the one man I want is most definitely off-limits. Jake Weston is a player through and through. He’s also the only one who sees through the mayhem to the real me, but how can I trust he’s not just out to claim the glory?

And how will I make it through the strike without scratching the itch - especially when that itch looks so damn good out of his suit?

The thrill of the chaste has never been so sexy in Lila Monroe’s hilarious, hot new romantic read!

~ Sometimes, one degree is all that separates you from the one you were meant to be with. ~

Wes Bergman was sex on a stick.
We’d been circling one another our entire lives, mingling at the same clubs... attending the same events…sharing mutual acquaintances…yet we’d never actually met.
Until . . . we both boarded a Windjammer Cruise in the Caribbean. And it was like meeting my long, lost best friend for the first time. I hadn’t ever connected with a guy that way before.
But Wes had a girlfriend. So, when the week was over, he walked off the ship, unknowingly taking a piece of my heart with him.
Now, over a decade later, newly divorced, I’m the proverbial fish out of water. Dating has totally changed. Apps. Swipe left. Swipe right. Catfishing. Men my age want two things: twenty-five-year-olds—like my ex’s new child bride of a wife—or just a quick hook-up.
After a string of bad dates, I finally did something I never thought I’d do. I had a hot one-night stand with a really handsome guy I met online who didn’t even know my real name.
Turned out Mr. Fling is a big shot for my company’s newest client. And just my
luck, that client’s CEO is none other than . . . Wes Bergman.
Now I’m separated by one degree again from the man who stole my heart.
And Mr. Fling could destroy my chance of what I want most –
A Do-Over with Wes.

Close to You

Close to You Close to You by Kristen Proby
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this series! Landon and Camy were dynamic together, and the narrators really brought them to life.

I did cry a bit towers the end but I was happy to see that the conflict was a minor hiccup for Camy and Landon.

I look forward to listening to more books in this series. I'm super excited to see what happens in Kat's story.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I freakin love J.L. Beck's books. While this book was a bit over the top, it did have a sweet insta love romance that I crave.

The chemistry between Liam and Whitney is sizzling hot, and the whole baby part... *whistles*

All in all a pretty good book if I say so myself.

Excerpt

“Look out!”

Megan saw a blur of cream through her lens, and was about to put down the camera when something connected with the side of her skull. She screamed, the only reaction she could manage. An explosion went off in her head. Tiny sparks flashed on the edge of her vision as she fell backward. Her mind filled with something like a night sky, black with tiny lights that crept further into her vision every time she blinked. It fascinated and distracted her from the pain that throbbed in her head.

She thudded on her backside on the concrete. A new wave of pain swept through her body. Air escaped from her lungs and Megan gasped. She managed to piece together that she’d been hit in the head, though by what exactly she wasn’t sure. People rushed towards her.

Embarrassment flooded into her cheeks. The last thing she wanted to be was the center of attention. That’s why she was a photographer. She could hide behind the camera. My camera? She reached for it, and sighed with relief when her fingers wrapped around it. She looked down at her SLR digital Canon camera, and it appeared to be in one piece. It was hard to tell because of the pounding in her head.

More stars flashed. She noticed they twinkled in time with the bursts of pain.

“They don’t have points.” Megan knew she had spoken, but her voice sounded faraway, and not at all like her own.

“Are you okay?” A man knelt beside her. He was one of the men she’d been distracted by. She tried to look at him, but could only see the flashing stars now retreating to the edge of her vision. A fog seeped into her mind and she struggled to think clearly.

“No points,” she said again with disappointment. She’d never had a serious injury before, never broken any bones, nothing like today’s accident. So, this is what it’s like to see stars. The expression used didn’t describe the experience at all. Megan touched the side of her head, to make sure it was still there. She hadn’t blanked out which she figured was a good thing.

“What are you talking about?” The man touched her shoulder.

“The stars I can see,” said Megan, not totally processing what he had said. She looked at him. He was young, mid- twenties, about her age. His broad-rimmed hat hid most of his blond hair, and his blue eyes were crystal sharp. Light stubble edged his broad jawline. He was hot. She was rather impressed she had managed to work that out through the haze flooding her mind.

“Shit.” He rested his hand on her shoulder. “My Bruce hit your head, more like grazed it along the side from the looks of the mark, but still I’m sorry he was such a shit.”

“Bruce?” Megan looked at him, trying to understand. “Is that your name?”

“No. My bull. His hoof struck your head. Lucky it was only a half jump he made, and it wasn’t a full on blow.”

“Oh, so that’s what happened.” She wasn’t sure it was a half kick from the way her head felt. The adrenalin was dissipating and a heavy thudding took hold in her head. Megan tried to smile at the man by her side. This wasn’t the time to flirt, but heck, she couldn’t help it.

This is the second book I have read by Rocklyn Ryder, and she had quickly escalated to be one of my go to quick sorry romance authors.

Ethan Hades by Kat Austen

Ethan Hades Ethan Hades by Kat Austen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was another good book by Kat Austen. This was most definitely a paranormal romance and even though I don't normally read them, this one was pretty good.

Who knew Hades had a heart. In this short steamy insta love, you get to learn about Hades and how he found The One. I would have given this book 5 stars but I hated the ending. I felt that there should have been a different outcome since Hades bared his soul to Zeus.

All in all, if you are looking for a quick dirty read then this is your book.

Ethan Hades: God's Among Men by Kat Austen

AP new - buy the book.jpg

AP new - synopsis.jpg

Ethan Hades falls into the god category . . . though the myths surrounding Hades are far different than the truth of who he really is. God of the Underworld is just one of his many responsibilities. After spending centuries alone, a scapegoat for anything and everything that goes wrong in the world, he’s given up on life. He gave up on love way before that.

Until one day a woman he can’t ignore walks into his life. They have nothing in common—that she’s mortal being is only one of the many differences between them. Holland Corbin is everything Ethan has been waiting an eternity to find. One problem—she’s hell-bent on keeping him as far away from her as possible and looks at him like he’s the devil himself. Which, okay, she has good instincts.

He might have to move heaven and hell to get her to accept and admit her feelings for him. He might have to forfeit his own infinite existence to be with her. He might have to stand in contempt of the only set of laws he’s ever followed. But he will. He’d give everything to be with her, and he just might be forced to pay that exact price.

He’s damned either way. Might as well go out fighting for the woman he loves.

Riding Her Rough by Jenika Snow

He kept his distance. She saved her virginity.

Torque Morrison is a biker without roots—a Nomad—and he likes it that way. The pierced and tattooed member of the Death’s Door MC is a bad boy who’s lived hard and stayed away from what he really wants…the curvy Delilah.
And staying away from what’s forbidden has been the hardest thing he’s ever done.

Delilah Stringer was the daughter of the Death’s Door MC president, and she wasn’t a shrinking violet. The outlaws she grew up around may be crude and nasty, but they’re also protective, and they’d never approve of her being with a fellow Patch.
But Torque is the only man she’s ever wanted.
And then he’s back in town, and one drunken night leads to her giving him her virginity.

Torque finally claims Delilah. She’s his in all ways. He isn’t about to walk away from her, no matter who he has to go up against to make that known.

Warning: A fast, filthy story that leaves nothing to the imagination is just a page away. It’s unbelievable, and it might even be a little ridiculous, but it hits the spot in all the right ways.

READER NOTE: This was previously published under the title Ridin' Her Rough. It has since been re-edited and revised.

He stood, but because she was still sitting, that put his crotch right at level with her face. She curled her uninjured hand into a fist and slowly trailed her gaze up to his face.
“I’m barely controlling myself as it is, Delilah.”
Her chest rose and fell with the force of trying to get enough oxygen into her lungs, but she was growing light-headed regardless. “What?” It seemed when her lust pounded inside of her, she was nothing more than a one-word kind of girl. Torque made her this way, and she knew he always would.
“Baby, if you keep looking at me like you want me to fuck you, then that’s what I’m going to do.” She watched as his jaw hardened. “In fact, I’ve had enough to drink that even though I know what I want to do to you will likely get my ass handed to me by your dad and the other members, at this point I am so fucking hard up for your pussy I don’t even care.”
Her tongue felt swollen, as did the rest of her body. Her clit throbbed, and her nipples were so hard she wouldn’t have been surprised if the damn things ripped through the thin material of her top. “I think you’re too drunk to know what you’re saying.” She needed to get out of this room right now or she’d be liable to do something that would most likely end up having her regret it in the morning.
She stood. They were now face-to-face, and although they were only inches apart, Torque didn’t move. He was at least a foot taller than her measly five-foot-two-inch frame, so she was forced to crane her neck back to look him in the eye. God, he was just so big and masculine, and although Delilah wasn’t a little thing by any means, even considered herself more on the thick side, this man made her feel petite in every way imaginable. Before she could move away, he shot his hand out, grabbed a chunk of her hair, and yanked her head back until her throat was bared to him. The sting of pain from his forceful touch only amplified the lust burning inside of her. She parted her lips, not knowing if she was going to tell him to stop or beg him for more.
“Baby, I know what the fuck I’m saying, and who I’m saying it to.” He leaned in close until she felt the brush of his lips along hers. He didn’t add any pressure, just held them there like he was some kind of sadist and was getting off on the fact that she was squirming from his torture. “I know that if I were to fuck the prez’s daughter, I’d get a fucking beating that would probably leave me bleeding out of my ears.” His breath was warm and smelled of whiskey, but the sweet scent had her pussy clenching. “But you know what, baby?” He didn’t give her a chance to speak. “I have wanted your ass for far longer than I am even comfortable admitting, and I know you want my dick buried deep inside of that sweet little pussy of yours too.”

“Oh God.”
He chuckled deeply and shook his head, which had his lips brushing back and forth along hers. “No, Delilah, not God. But I’m going to have you calling out his name as I fuck the hell out of you.”
