Broken (Broken #1) by Skyla Madi

And commence drooling.......NOW! Sweet mother of all thing holy, Jai Stone is the reining king of my book boyfriends, even Dominic couldn't hold up to this man.

This is the first book I have read by Skyla Madi, and yep you guessed it. I am hooked. Broken follows Emily Sheppard a nursing student and Jai Stone an underground MMA fighter, a rookie cop, and someone who is willing to sacrifice everything for his family. Or as I like to call him a BAMF and my new book boyfriend. For those who don't know what a BAMF is, it's a Bad Ass Mother-F*cker, and he is well beyond that title.

The story starts with Emily on a train headed for home. Its late at night, and she is just ready to get home and to be done studying on her tablet. As with any college student, money is always tight, even more so for Emily as she was orphaned man years earlier. So what happens when a dark and mysterious stranger bumps into her causing the tablet to fall and break? You go after them, I mean why not, right? This is a bad mistake. Emily is instantly thrown into the dark world of underground fighting, and she has no choice but to fight or die. Luckily the stranger who is the cause of her predicament, takes her under his wing, or just under him and helps her with the first round.

Jai is at the fights for a reason, to find his brother Joel. Nothing is going to get in his way, or so he thought. Emily has a way of keeping him grounded, and he will do everything possible to see that he gets her out of this situation. But can he keep his feelings in check?

Skyla Madi did an excellent job of writing on this book. It was a very quick read, and got right to the point. That is one thing that I love in finding new authors. She was able to keep me entertained from the moment I picked the book up till I finished it.

I am really looking forward to reading more books in this series and getting more of Jai.

The Tornado by Missy Blue

Jewel Mucciarone was a gifted ballet dancer. She is chasing the demons of her past, and it seems only one person can help her chase them away. His name is Asher “The Tornado” Prince.

One year ago, Jewel was on top of the world that is until it is all ripped away from her one ruthless weekend. Jewel has been just drifting along this past year. Jumping at shadows and just fading into the woodwork. That is until she starts going to a MMA gym and meets The Tornado himself. Asher is just as lost as Jewel is, living in the shadows of his past. He takes his anger and channels it into his fighting. But once Jewel is in the picture, he would give it all up just to see her smile.

Can these two lost souls find love and happiness?

This is the first book I have read by Missy Blue, and it also happens to be her debut book as well. I have never been so impressed with a debut book. Thankfully this did not end on a cliff hanger like the last book I reviewed.

Missy Blue’s writing reminds me a lot of E.K. Blair and her Fading Series. I see a lot of similarities between Jewel and Candace without the weird twists that E.K. puts in her books. Missy was able to capture the raw emotions of both Jewel and Asher. I felt as if I were living in their nightmares with them.

If you are anything like me, you will LOVE this book. I could NOT put it down. I look forward to reading more from this author, and I hope she continues to write these types of books as she really knows how to nail the psychological aspect of abuse.

FYI Asher almost….Almost pushed Deacon out on his butt, but his is still top dog………For now! Just wait till I introduce you to Jai Stone. He’s one to go down in the record books.

Love Hurts (Caged Love #1) by Mandi Beck

Love Hurts (Caged Love #1) by Mandi Beck

Wow! What a book! This is Mandi Becks debut book, and I am hooked. I love everything about it. The story, the characters and most of all, the book cover.

This story follows Deacon “The Hitman” Love, and his quest to make his best friend Frankie “Princess” De Rosa his. Deacon has loved Princess since the moment they meet, but he has only loved her from afar. Only when Frankie becomes engaged to a real tool does he tell her his true feelings. Frankie doesn’t take the news well as she was completely oblivious of his true feelings. Thus starts the downward spiral of their love story.

Emotions are high in this story, and a whole lot of testosterone mixed in with it. Deacon is the epitome a skilled MMA fighter alpha-male; he is whatever man wants to be, and what every woman wants in bed. Well everyone but Frankie. After a horrendous incident, can Frankie finally let her guard down and accept that Deacon isn’t just trying to get in her pants, that maybe just maybe he truly does love her?

This book brought out so many emotions for me. I laughed, cried and became angry with the characters. Most of the book is written in Deacon’s perspective and I believe the author truly captured Deacons tortured soul in her writing. It was very well written and a breath of fresh air to read a romance novel from a man’s perspective.

I will tell you that this book does end on a cliffhanger. I know, I know, I don’t like it either. The wait begins now for the second book to be released. It’s supposed to come out this summer, and I will defiantly be anxiously awaiting it. I have not read a whole lot of books with sports themes, but the few that I have, I have to say that the MMA oriented books always have the best alpha-males. If you like they guys who command their way into your life, then you NEED to read this book. Deacon will not disappoint.

And Mark, I’m sorry to say but you have been replaced. Deacon has stolen my heart from you.
