Hitched: Volume 1 & 2 (Imperfect Love 1 & 2) by Kendall Ryan

I knew I should have waited for the third book to come out before starting this series!!!

If you have been following my blog from the first post, you all know that Kendall Ryan is one of my
favorite authors. I have loved everything she has written, and this series is no exception.

These two books follow Noah and Olivia, they have known each other since the beginning of time. Little did they know, their fathers conspired against them stating that in order to inherit their families company, they must wed each other and produce an heir. Noah is down with this and is willing to have it all with the one woman who hates his guts.

These two characters are amazing together. The chemistry between Noah and Olivia is sizzling hot. They both want each other, but both refuse to do anything about it for fear of being turned away.

The second book does end on a HUGE cliffhanger, and I cannot wait until August 2nd for the third and final to come out.

I NEED to know if Noah and Olivia finally get the HEA that they both deserve or will their stubborn prides cost them their company? Only 11 more days until I find out.

Kicked by Celia Aaron

ARC provided by Ardent PRose in exchange for an honest review.

I freaking love Celia Aaron! This book sucked me in from page one and I could not put it down!

I loved how Ms. Aaron was able to really incorporate football into this book and make it seem plausible. As a huge football fan, it was nice to be able to read about a quarterback and kicker relationship (I’m talking actual football here).

Now Trent Carrington *sigh* what a man! Every girl deserves a man like that. To have them fawn after you for 2 years. I WANT one!!!!

I really enjoyed this book, and I’m really hoping to see some more sport romances from Celia Aaron. Everyone I have read is well written and easy to understand. I would love to see a sequel to this book. I think Hawthorne needs a story. What little bit that we saw from him, he was a big ole ginger softy.

Ten (Men by Numbers #1) by Ker Dukey

HOLY CRAP!!!! Why have I not read more of Ker Dukey’s books? I am seriously hooked in this series!

I honestly have only read one book by Ms. Dukey, and I put it down thinking eh!

This book had it all, romance, suspense, erotica all rolled into one!

This book follows Alex and Dalton who have loved each other since they were children. Dalton becomes Alex’s brothers best friend, and the three of them all become inseparable. Forward a few years and Dalton and Alex have fallen in love. This displeases Jonah who is incredibly possessive of Alex, past the point of brotherly love.

Fast forward 10 years, Alex has to go back to the town she was taken from. Having the love of her life ripped from her arms, she is dreading running into him. Her homecoming is less than stellar. Needless to say, she is confused by all of the hate that Dalton has for her. After all, she didn’t send him to prison. He did that all on his own when he started dealing for his Uncle.

Again I can’t praise this book enough. I’m sorry I didn’t read this sooner. Now all I am going to do is look at my Kindle daily and hope and pray that Ker Dukey releases Six earlier than August 29th. I need to know how Six is handling life on the outside. He has peaked my curiosity and I think a woman is going to be his downfall.

Rushed by Lauren Landish

I don’t know what it is, but I cannot get enough of football romance books right now.

I was so excited to receive this ARC! Lauren Landish really knows how to tell a football story. Its light on the football, and heavy on the steam! Rush was a great addition to this series. I loved seeing Duncan and Carrie make an appearance from Over the Middle in this book. Of course like all of Ms. Landish’s books, this is a complete stand-alone.

I was moderately surprised that I liked reading about Canadian Football. I didn’t even know they had such a thing! This book was easy to read and very touching considering the hero and heroine has a past from when they were children. I even loved the surprise bun in the oven. It was scary to think that April would have a life altering disease, and Tyler would stand by her side through it all.

These two characters were made for each other. Ms. Landish did a magnificent job of portraying the love these two characters carried for each other throughout the years. I hope to see more sports romances from Lauren Landish.

Spectacular Rascal by Lili Valente

I filippin love Lili Valente!!!

The stories she comes up with have me rolling. This book was hilarious from the get go.

This book starts off where Magnificent Bastard ends but don’t worry you don’t have to read MB to understand what is going on in SR.

This is Aiden’s story, and I will admit I was a bit apprehensive to read about him. He has the lumbersexual (hairy hairy man) look going on, and I am not a fan of hairy men (I just threw up in my mouth thinking about hairy men). Aiden fell in love with a girl in college, but boys being boys, they don’t know their head from there ass and he let the best thing get away from him.

Panties has always loved Curve (the only names they knew each other by in college). Even now several years later she still feels for him. And she has just hired him to help her get rid of her stalker ex-boyfriend.

The plot through this book kept me on my toes, and Lili always seemed to be one step ahead of me in that department. This was not your usual second chance love story. There was some suspense and a whole lot of smut involved.

I was also happy to get a sneak peek into Shane’s story. I am already on the edge of my seat to see what is in store for her. She cracked me up during her brief encounters with Aiden and Cat.

Hit and Run: A Mafia Hitman Romance by Natasha Tanner and Vesper Vaughn

Vesper Vaughn is one of my favorite authors, and I'm not going to lie. I drug my feet on reading this book, as I am not a big fan of Mafia themed books.

I should have known this book would be different than any other mafia book I have read. As with all Vesper Vaughn books, once I started it, I couldn't put it down.

I have not read anything by Natasha Tanner before, but I believe she has also become a staple in my reading rotation.

F*ck being good. When you’ve been screwed over by Mr. Wrong, let a Spectacular Rascal show you how good it feels to be bad.

My best friend and boss at Magnificent Bastard consulting—get revenge on your ex or your money back—is the smooth, successful New York businessman type. But me? I’m the other guy—the one you don’t bring home to mama. The tattooed, rough-around-the-edges, 100% primal badass. I won’t pull out your chair, sweetheart, but I will pull your hair.

I’ve got what it takes to make sure your dangerous dick of an ex thinks twice before he knocks on your door again.

Or I thought I did, until I meet my latest client: Catherine Jones, a.k.a. Polka Dot Panties. Former college running partner, sexiest woman I’ve ever almost de-virginized, and the only girl I’ve never been able to get out of my damn head.

Now my one-that-got-away is looking up at me with those big green eyes, daring me to take on an ex as dick-ish and dangerous as hers.

Well, you know what they say—it’s all fun and games until you’re making out on top of a mobster’s limousine.

Soon Catherine and I are in deep. We’re on guard, on the run, and on top of each other every chance we get. But outsmarting her mobster ex is the least of my worries, especially when I start thinking our falling hard act isn’t an act at all.

But after all this time, can a guy from the wrong side of the tracks find his forever with the sweet and sexy polka-dot-pantied girl next door?

Warning: SPECTACULAR RASCAL is a stand-alone erotic romance told from the hero’s point of view. No cliffhanger. Lots of dirty talk.

27 Truths: Ava's story (The Truth About Love Book 1) by MJ Fields

My heart aches, my soul is broken, and I am utterly devastated. MJ Fields has ripped my heart out and has crushed it to dust.

I have always been a fan of MJ and I have yet to read any of her pre-Steel books. After reading this one, I don't know if I can bring myself to read them. My heart can only be broken so many times. However I will be reading her earlier works as I must know how the wonderful characters came about.

Ava's story is one that will tug at your heart strings.Your emotions will be all over the place, you will want to cry, scream and throw your kindle all in one sitting. You will beg and plead that this isn't the end. You will barter with God, asking him to make the pain go away. And lastly, you will hate MJ for all of the pain, sorrow and tears she has caused you.

This book is worth all of that and so much more.

Trent Carrington.
Trent Mr. Perfect-Has-Everyone-Fooled Carrington.
He’s the star quarterback, university scholar, and happens to be the sexiest man I’ve ever seen. He shines at any angle, and especially under the Saturday night stadium lights where I watch him from the sidelines. But I know the real him, the one who broke my heart and pretended I didn’t exist for the past two years.
I’m the third-string kicker, the only woman on the team and nothing better than a mascot. Until I’m not. Until I get my chance to earn a full scholarship and join the team as first-string. The only way I'll make the cut is to accept help from the one man I swore to never trust again. The problem is, with each stolen glance and lingering touch, I begin to realizing that trusting Trent isn’t the problem. It’s that I can’t trust myself when I’m around him.

This is a full-length, standalone American football romance novel with hot guys in tight pants who really know how to handle their balls.

IT'S LIVE! Holding His Forever by Alexa Riley

AP new - buy the book.jpg

goodreads-badge.png

Derek aka Phoenix is a New York City firefighter and has dedicated his life to saving people. When he loses two of his men in the line of duty, he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to see the light again.

However, when an angel in the form of a woman named Fia appears before him, his world as he knows it is turned upside down.

Fia has been working hard to make money so she can finish her last semester of school. A fire in her building sets her back to square one, but the fireman who saves her turns out to be more than she ever expected.

Once he gets his arms around her, there’s no letting go. Because when you’ve got your forever in your arms, nothing else matters.

Warning: This is hot and fast insta-love that ignites the pages. It’s burning heat that combusts into an inferno of lava. Okay, that’s all the fire words I could come up with. Now insert a pun about a big hose. It’s quick, dirty, and ridiculously over the top.

AP new - excerpt.jpg

Chapter 1 *Fia*
“You finish your shit, Fia?”
Sam’s gravelly voice from years of smoking barks from behind me as I hang up the phone in his back office. A mixture of annoyance and relief fills me. I really didn’t want to have to cover Kim’s shift at the women’s shelter tonight and was thankful she was able to make it in. I would have done it if they needed me; I’d do anything for that place. But I’m dead on my feet as it is. I’ve been on my feet for the past twelve hours and haven’t slept in over twenty-four, and it would be my luck that if I went back to the shelter, it would be a busy night.
“Already clocked out.” I turn to look at Sam, whose eyes are trained on my ass. He slowly pulls them up to my face as a smirk plays at his lips, showing off his yellow-tinted teeth, not a care that he’s openly running his eyes over my body. Sadly, I’ve become used to it. It still creeps me out, but he’s never tried anything.
Or maybe my luck is about to change, I think, as he shuts the door to his office, trapping me in. The door is always open. The waitresses here at Moe’s always keep our stuff stored back here, where we clock in and out for our shifts.
“You think about my offer?” He cocks his head to the side like he’s giving me the world, not a management position at the diner. I’d stay later after waiting tables and help with paperwork and orders and get a raise, but I think Sam has a few more strings he wants to add to the position things I want no part of. I’ve turned down the offer twice now, but he keeps telling me to think on it.
Normally I just mumble a, “no, thanks,” on my way out the door, but now it’s closed and I’m trapped. Trapped with a man twice my age, maybe even pushing three times my age. It’s hard to tell with his shaved head. He’s double my size, and I don’t mean in muscle or height. No, there’s a lot of gut on old Sam.
“I really don’t have the time.” I tell him the same thing I’ve said every time it’s been brought up. At least, not without giving up my shifts at the shelter, and that’s not something I’m willing to do, even if the pay is way worse over there. I love that shelter. I owe them so much after what they did for my mother and me. I’m just thankful they pay me at all, because I would do it for free. I hope that one day I can do it for free, but at the moment that just isn’t possible if I want to keep a roof over my head and food on my plate.
“We’ll cut your serving time,” he suggests, taking a step towards me. I try to match his in retreat but only hit the desk. I don’t want to cut my serving hours only to spend more time with him in his cramped little office alone. Hell, I’ve been in here for two minutes and I feel like I’m having a panic attack. I can feel my heartbeat pick up speed. My anxiety grows with each pull of my breath. I know all too well how men act when they don’t get the responses they want. I’ve seen it for years with my own father and how he treated my mother.
I just shake my head again, trying to push the words past my lips. “I really” My words are cut short when Tracy throws open the door.
“Who in the hell put the” She stops abruptly when she sees us both standing in the tiny office. Her eyes narrow, going back and forth between us. Tracy has been working at the diner for years. She trained me a few months back, and many might even think she owns the place by how she pushes everyone around. And I’m pretty sure she and Sam have a thing. I stay out of her way. I want my tables and tips and nothing more from this place. It’s a means to an end. A slow means, but I’m getting there, dollar by dollar, and this place has the best tips I’ve come across so far, so I put up with it.
“I’m having a meeting.” Sam turns to look at her. Tracy purses her lips at him, clearly not liking what he’s saying.
“No, it’s fine. I really should be going. I’ll miss the bus,” I lie. I always walk home. I grab my purse and coat and don’t even bother to put them on. I just hold them close to my body over my cheap polyester uniform that fits a little too snuggly on me. “Maybe Tracy would like the manager position,” I throw out.
“What!” Tracy half-screams, her face scrunching up. I steal the moment to slip past them both as fast as I can and out the side door of the diner, into the chilled night. The street is empty now that it’s almost midnight on a Tuesday.
I slip my coat on and make the half-mile walk to my apartment, which sits over an old laundromat. Locking the door behind me, I waste no time pulling my uniform from my body and tossing my tips from tonight on the table before jumping into the shower. I have to get the smell of grease off my hair and body. I let the warm water run over me, relaxing my muscles as I wash away the day’s work.
When I’m done I grab a shirt and a pair of panties and pull them on. I sit at the small fold-out table in my half kitchen, if you can call it that. It doesn’t even have a full refrigerator, just one of those tiny ones you find in a hotel, which is probably where it came from. There’s a small sink and microwave, and that’s about it. My exhaustion outweighs my hunger as I count my tips. A hundred dollars on a double shift for a Tuesday isn’t too bad. Every dollar counts at this point. I’m so close to being able to pay for my last semester of college. Twelve more credits and I’m done, I remind myself. I can do this.
I grab the money and place it carefully, along with yesterday’s money, between the pages of a book I keep on the table. I still need to go to the bank and deposit it. After that, I walk the few feet to my bed in the corner of the room and fall face first into the cushioned surface.
“I miss you, Mom,” I whisper into the pillow before sleep takes me.
