Love Hurts (Caged Love #1) by Mandi Beck

Love Hurts (Caged Love #1) by Mandi Beck

Wow! What a book! This is Mandi Becks debut book, and I am hooked. I love everything about it. The story, the characters and most of all, the book cover.

This story follows Deacon “The Hitman” Love, and his quest to make his best friend Frankie “Princess” De Rosa his. Deacon has loved Princess since the moment they meet, but he has only loved her from afar. Only when Frankie becomes engaged to a real tool does he tell her his true feelings. Frankie doesn’t take the news well as she was completely oblivious of his true feelings. Thus starts the downward spiral of their love story.

Emotions are high in this story, and a whole lot of testosterone mixed in with it. Deacon is the epitome a skilled MMA fighter alpha-male; he is whatever man wants to be, and what every woman wants in bed. Well everyone but Frankie. After a horrendous incident, can Frankie finally let her guard down and accept that Deacon isn’t just trying to get in her pants, that maybe just maybe he truly does love her?

This book brought out so many emotions for me. I laughed, cried and became angry with the characters. Most of the book is written in Deacon’s perspective and I believe the author truly captured Deacons tortured soul in her writing. It was very well written and a breath of fresh air to read a romance novel from a man’s perspective.

I will tell you that this book does end on a cliffhanger. I know, I know, I don’t like it either. The wait begins now for the second book to be released. It’s supposed to come out this summer, and I will defiantly be anxiously awaiting it. I have not read a whole lot of books with sports themes, but the few that I have, I have to say that the MMA oriented books always have the best alpha-males. If you like they guys who command their way into your life, then you NEED to read this book. Deacon will not disappoint.

And Mark, I’m sorry to say but you have been replaced. Deacon has stolen my heart from you.

Better When It Hurts (Stripped #2) by Skye Warren

You know what, I'm not going to apologize for not posting sooner. The month of May has been hectic, with school ending, my bathroom exploding, and several birthdays thrown in there, I have been busy.

So I am just going to get on with my review. Skye Warren was nice enough to provide and ARC for me for this book. It is expected to release June 4th. Better When It Hurts is the second book in the Stripped series and I think it can be read as a stand-alone. This book follows Lola/Amanda and Blue. Both Amanda and Blue were foster kids and had lived together and in love. One night Blue walks in to a very disturbing situation and Amanda points a finger accusing Blue of harming her. Blue doesnt get convicted of the crime, but has to join the Army.

Fast forward 5 years, and Amanda is now Lola, and a stripper and Blue is the head of security at the same place. Lola is convinced that Blue is only there for revenge. Or is it more then that, could he still be in love with her?

Skye has not disappointed again. I enjoy reading her books as she really gets into the characters minds and has them very well developed. It give me great please to read her writing. I can not wait for the next book. I would love to read more about Clara from the Prequel  and I have already read Honor's story in the first book, but I'm thinking Candy's story is next. One could hope....Right!

The Gentleman Mentor by Kendall Ryan

It has been exactly one month today since my last post, and I'm just going to come out and say it. I have been too busy reading to do any reviews. I know, I know what a crappy excuse, but quite honestly I just haven't been finding any books that are worth my time, OK wait that's not a good excuse either. I have read some pretty good books two great series, and a whole lot of random hot cowboys thrown in the mix. Thank you Scott Eastwood for giving me some hot ass visuals while reading away.

I don't know if I have told you all this before or not, but last year I was pretty proud of myself and read 115 books. This was a major feat for me as I have never broken 100 before. So I told myself that I was going to read at least 100 again this year. I am happy to announce that I have reached my goal.  The book I am about to review is again by one of my favorite authors, unfortunately it wasn't the book to reach my goal, but it has helped me exceed it.

So without further ado...... I present The Gentleman Mentor

I am so happy and so crushed right now. This book was flipping amazing and made Christian Grey look like a putz. Cameron Hale is the new CG!

This book follows Brielle aka Brie and Dom, aka Hale, aka Cameron Hale. Brie is a down to earth girl looking to seduce her best friend Kirby. She is tired of falling for the wrong guys, and is desperate to do anything to attract him to her. Dom is a guy looking to train women in the art of seduction. One night Brie comes across an ad that Dom put out. She is intrigued immediately and contacts him. They meet and instantly the chemistry comes alive. Dom is an attractive man and Brie who is not a confidant woman is surprised by his occupation choice, but agrees to the terms of their relationship. The agreement is simple, 6 sessions with Dom, and don't let emotions get in the way. Dom is only there to show her how to become the confidant woman she wants to be.

Can Brie keep from falling in love Dom? He shows her how to become the seductress, and also teaches her that she is worth more than what she deserves. Can Dom let go of his past and love again?

Kendall Ryan is hands down one of my favorite authors. She has yet again amazed me with her writing. This book was a bit more risque from what she normally writes, but honestly I am a fan. The chemistry she created between Brie and Cameron is incredible and very believable. These two were made for each other. They are the new Christian and Anna, and I just have to say Christian Grey ain't got shit on Cameron Hale.

So if you liked FSoG, give this book a chance, and from the sounds of it, it is the beginning of a new series as The Dominant is set to release on July 14th. I am super excited that the next book is coming soon and I can't wait to get to know Reese the owner of Crave better. Yes I do have it pre-ordered...Don't judge me!

Can't Walk Away by Molly McLain (River Bend #3)

I would say sorry Sabato, but I'm not going to because you have officially been replaced by Mark Dunn. The sexist Sheriff EVER, who also happened to be in the Army. And completely and utterly in love with Ally Barrett. These two have had an unofficial relationship for the better part of a year, and Ally is tired of be his side action. She wants, no needs more from Mark, and Mark, well Mark doesn't really know what he wants aside from Ally the red-haired freckle faced beauty who stole his heart long ago.

This story starts somewhere in the middle of the second book Can't Get Enough, as you see a small spat between Mark and Ally in that book. This book picks up from the spat and Ally is sick of not mattering to Mark. His job comes first and foremost, but she just wants him to love her like she loves him. So what does she do? Probably one of the dumbest things she could ever do, make Mark jealous. It works alright, but not how she wanted it to. And because of it, consequences happen. Will there love be enough to get it together, or are they both to stubborn to communicate? Come on guys communication is key!

Molly had me swooning from Mark from the get go. Again, HELLO man in uniform! He could have been a rent-a-cop and it still would have been hot! OK, maybe that is an exaggeration, but non the less Mark is HOT. This is the book that kept me up all night. I could not stop reading about Ally and Mark. They are hands down my favorite couple so far. The love that Mark shows Ally after he gets his head out of his ass is what every women dreams of. I have a certain retired grunt who could take a few lessons from Mark. Sigh.... Oh well, I will continue to live vicariously through my books.

If you have read my other posts about Molly McLain, then there is no need to rehash how much I love reading her books. I do have to say though Ms. Molly, that I better see Mark again, I'm already going through withdrawals from him. I'm hyperventilating infact. OK, not quite that bad, but I wouldnt be upset with just a little fix from him. PLEASE???

There is one more book in this series that has been published, and I have it loaded up on my kindle app now. It follows Dan and Maddie Hudson on their honeymoon. If you have read the first book then you would know that they got married in the first book, and I am chomping at the bit to see how freaky these two are going to get.

So hang on tight, this next book sounds like its going to naughty with a capital N.

Can't Get Enough by Molly McLain (River Bend #2)

Can't Get Enough is the second book in the River Bend series, and while I enjoyed, it wasnt as good as Cant Shake You. However, the plot was great, the story was there, but I am not all that soft on single Dads. Its just not my thing.

This story follows Tony Dunn and Nicole Hodges. Just to lonely broken people who find solace in each other. Tony is a single Dad to a baby girl named Brianna, and he has NO clue as to what he is doing until Nicole strolls in. Nicole is running from her past, and is leery of domineering men. Can Nicole ever trust Tony with her heart, even when her past shows up to River Bend?

Just like Can't Shake You, Tony is also a retired Marine...Nough said. Plus a construction foreman for Hudson Contracting...Can you say yes please? Me, not so much. I have to hots for his cousin. Which you will eventually get to meet in the next book.

I am glad that I read this book even though I'm not a typical woman who swoons over men and babies. Its just not my cup of tea. Dont get me wrong I love my children, and wouldn't trade them for the world, well maybe for some cold meds and a Redbull right about now, but I dont get that baby fever. Yep its a baby....Good Luck? LOL

This book however was the perfect set up for the next book in the series so you have to read it to really knows what happens with Tony's cousin Mark.

So read this book even if your like me, anti baby and all, because it sets up more books for this series. Can you say happy dance?

Onward and forward with my addiction my fellow book junkies. Stay tuned!

Can't Shake You by Molly McLain (River Bend #1)

Yep I have went and did it again. I have found another author who has thoroughly entertained me. I found Molly McLain by chance so THANK YOU BOOKBUB.COM! You never let me down in finding new authors.

Molly McLain is new and upcoming, and so far she has 4 books in this series. Yes I am addicted.

In the first book you meet Josh Hudson, he live in the small town of River Bend and built himself a nice little contracting company. He also is a Marine, need I say more. My inner goddess is doing the happy dance for men in uniform, but who can blame me right? I love my Grunt more then life it's self, even when I want to choke slam him into the ground.

Three years ago, Josh had the best one night stand of his life with Carissa Brandt, and he has not been the same ever since. Josh deploys and thought he could return back how and pick up where he left off with Carissa. Boy was he wrong. Why can't men just use thier big boy voices and tell us women what they want? Quit beating around the bush already! Ugh men! The next year and a half, Josh is trying to deny his attraction to Carissa, and so is she. I'll give you a small hint. They fail miserably.

Molly McLain does a fabulous job in her debut book. She really captures the couples personalities and how they are two very different people. I love her writing style, I love it so much that I stayed up until 6 am this morning finishing the next two books. I know right, me with little sleep, and a busted coffee maker to boot. I love the inner dialogue that she captures for each character. She is also like James Patterson, M.J. Fields and Ivy Love by switches back and forth between characters. Hence why I stayed up so late. I HAD to know what was going to happen.

So Molly you have gained a new avid fan, who won't be afraid to Facebook stalk you when I'm not playing soccer mom, cleaning up after my horde or when my stinking job takes time away from stalking.

I look forward to following you on your journey and absolutely cannot wait to see what you have in store for River Bend.

Sabato: The Cross by M.J. Fields (Ties of Steel #3)

I have failed you all by not keeping up I'm not going to lie and tell you haven't been reading, because I have, I have just been way too LAZY to do my reviews. So I am going to start by doing this one.

I don't even know where to start. I thought Dominic was the man for me, but nope. M.J has gone and ruined that for me. I will take Sabato any day. I have a thing for accents among other things.

Sabato is the son of the Mafia Kingpin, and he hates his father....Or is he is father? I'm not telling you. He comes to the Jersey shore to get a way from his father and to find a wife.
Enter Melyssa, the moment she sees Sabato, she is done for.

Sabato has unique tastes in the bedroom, his is an Alpha male through and through, and wants to tame Melyssa. However, Mel, as her friends call her, is to stubborn to give into his demands. Will the two of these lost souls make it work, or will they never love again?

This book is about love and trust. Can you love someone again after losing the love of your life. Can you trust another with your heart.

I know the answer, and if you have ever read any of my reviews, you know what I'm about to say. Of course you need to read it.

M.J. if you ever read my blog, please PLEASE tell me this isn't the of the Steels? I need my Zandor fix every now and then.

As always M.J.'s writing is superb. Her books are easy to read, with little questions. I hate when I am reading and find myself asking WTH just happened and I have to go back a few pages and reread, drives me nutso. I NEVER have to do that with M.J. As always I will continue to stalk her and I am always going to run out and by her books, especially if is has anything thing to do with the Steel series.
